Interac e-Transfer

Interac e-Transfer® gives you the freedom to send and receive money quickly and securely - using a computer and/or mobile phone.

A text message and/or email notifies the recipient that money is waiting for them.
To use Interac e-Transfer® you will need to register for online banking.

  • Register your email address for Autodeposit and have your funds automatically deposited to your account.
  • Send a request to a recipient to send you funds and when they fulfill the request the funds will be deposited directly into your account.
  • Send and receive money directly from/to your existing bank account.
  • The money can be accessed immediately after the transfer is accepted.
  • You don't need to share financial account information, only a phone number or email address.
  • The security question protects your transfer from being deposited by unintended recipients.
  • No need to set up new accounts, user ID or passwords if you already bank online.
  • Email and/or text message carries the notification, so no need for printing or mailing.

Do you know how to spot a fake e-transfer?
Tips on protecting yourself from e-Transfer fraud:
  • Only send money to people you know and trust, just as you would cash. An Interac e-Transfer transaction cannot be reversed once a recipient has deposited the funds.
  • Always use a strong security question that can’t easily be guessed or found – and make sure you share it via a safe channel.
  • Better yet: suggest that your recipient set up Interac e-Transfer Autodeposit for ease and added security.
Unexpected Interac e-Transfer notification?
If you receive an Interac e-Transfer text or email you weren’t expecting, confirm with the sender via another channel. If the email or text comes from someone you don’t know, or you suspect it to be fraudulent, don’t respond or click any links. Forward the email right away to
